In this 21st century, fashion trends have dominated the world more than they ever did, and having more and more impact on not only the dresses of people, but in the fashion styles of homes and makeup fashion.
Fashion trends have been on a high level increase in the past 100 years, with rapid growth and dominance happening mostly in societies of influence.
Fashion is referred to the Clothing styles that are most known -most worn. In an evolving, changing and sometimes coming back manner. Fashion styles hardly fade out, as they keep coming back at one time or the other. That is why it is necessary as a Fashion designer to study the evolution.

Fashion started many years, right from the BC’s during the time of the first man
Fashion trends in the BC’s
Styles and trends were taken of importance in the Romans and Egyptians who took great interest in their appearance. Different styles of clothes communicated difference in status, wealth and occupation.
Fashion was important all throughout the western history; from the dark ages to the medieval period, to the Renaissance period, then the Edwardian age.
The colonial rule increased the popularity of their dressing styles to the global audience. During this times fashion was dictated by the royal court. The ruling class dressed in a flashy, fancy style. While the poor couldn’t afford to keep with the fashion trends change. Clothes were used to separate people into groups.
Fashion styles in ancient Rome
During the time of the ancient Rome most clothing was simple in nature, and of basics form, which was produced out of minimal tailoring.
Each style in the Rome’s dressing had significance, Their dressing was used to differentiate their status, wealth and fame.
The women’s clothing was made of a palla over a stola (a long dress). The men’s dress was made of a Toga over a tonic.
The 14th Century rival (Renaissance) period
This was the period when fashion took a turn due to the high interest of fashion among the ruling class.
As commonly known to the world of fashion, it was people of influence and authority that tends to control the fashion trends and styles, so was it known also in this time as monarchs where the once who dictated fashion at this period.

Henry VIII popular dress
Out of the numerous monarchs that influenced the Renaissance period, the two most influential of them was Henry VIII and Elizabeth I.
Henry the VIII styles became popular throughout the western European. It was commonly known and adapted by everyone who could afford it, Styles such as; slashing and puffing, stuffing sleeves and shoulders -which increased the human figure.
Aside the ruling class during this period, traders and marketers also became of high interest in fashion. The Clothing during this time reflected the social standing of the wearer.
Evolution of Fashion trends in the 90’s
This period happened to be were major change to women’s dressing began. This was the time when women’s cloths didn’t require more than one person to wear. Thanks to Paul Poirot who designed the first dress that a woman can wear without assistance. Cloths that didn’t include a petticoat or corset started coming up. This was the period when the famous Flapper style came out.
There was a change to the fashion style after the World War 1, as people had to drop the elaborate code of dressing, to more easy to use dresses, and picked darker colors for dressing.

During the early 1920’s fashion moved from only the Royalties and leaders to a wider spread of people; film stars, entrepreneurs.
It was during the time that women dropped the complex, sophisticated style of dressing to a sportier look; shorter hairs, and shorter skirts. Flapper styles and no-waist became the wears of everyone.
Men’s dressing also changed to a more relaxed and youthful sport clothes.
Women became accustomed to wearing of trousers in the middle 1930. And due to their interest in sport, sport wears grew in popularity.
The World War 2 which ended in 2 September 1945 caused the change of fashion in a drastic measure. The attraction of fashion was shifted from Paris to London. There was mass production of wears.

It was during this period ready-to-wear clothes came into the scene. And as said earlier, fashion replayed itself; the old elaborate way of dressing was adopted by the rich folks again.
During the 1990’s, most of the fashion was depicted from the music idols Michael Jackson and Madonna, as millions of their fans took to following them.
The adoption of trousers for women
Women became accustomed to trousers in the early 90’s. It was still prohibited in most culture, and some tribe saw it as a taboo. But all this was given away in the 1970’s, as female trousers was adopted and became a fashion trends in almost all part of the globe. There was a preference for flared trousers during this period.
In the 1980’s Jean trousers became the most popular of others, and were found in almost every woman’s wardrobe. The increase in Sport brands also brought a popularity to sport wears, leggings, tracksuits and lycra.
In the early 1990 trousers had already become a known and acceptable wear in every part of the world.

There is not much happening during this period, as fashion has been taken aback. Fashion trends have changed rapidly, causing a decrease to cloth length size, and an increase to color variation. This past few decades has given women a wider flexibility to decide on what to wear. There is no more ‘One fashion style’ or ‘Fashion for the rich’.
Unlike the past where monarchs and aristocrat decided the fashion styles, the present fashion trends are adopted from the millions of celebrity around. With increasing number of celebrity brings about an increasing number of styles.
Fashion is a small word, with different characteristics. Unlike the nineteenth century, there is more freedom and increase of choice to decide what to wear.
Although there is much difference between fashion now and fashion then, still do not belittle the styles that go out, because what goes always comes back.

A fashion accessory is an item used to contribute to a wearer’s outfit, and often to used to complete an outfit. It can also be used as an expression of an individual identity.
Accessories come in different shape, size and colour. Accessories can also be used as a signature for different occasions.
The type of accessory a person carries or wear to compliment his dressing can be influenced by the context of which the person is going to.

Cause for fashion change
During the change of time they have been known fact to the reason why fashion trends has been on the diverse change. Fashion changes as times goes, and below are some reasons to why:
- Time change has been a big influence to the fashion industry. Cause old things go, and new things has to come
- People are influenced by popular culture, including; athletes, musician, movie stars and royalty.
- People imitate what they like, they pay attention to the wears in movies, television shows, online videos and music. So when people see this new style they want to copy out their favorite stars and seek out different fashion.
